Forceware 162.18 *OFFICIAL* released
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_162.18.html
Just noticed these today, in the release notes quite a few changes - states they have fixed the scaling option for 8800 cards - which may interest a few people on here.
Cant test at them at the moment as my POS "XFX 8800 ultra xxx" is being RMA'd (rejected aswell)

I have seen, since official releas 93.71 Overlay Mixer does not work with the drivers. In the new control panel you will see "overlay is disabled, no controls available".
This is true of both 93.71 and 94.24 in my testing, however, the latest beta just says to opn a video and see the changes. But if you use Media Player Classic or some other program where you can select the renderer the Overlay Mixer will not be instanciated.
If I roll back to 91.47 Overlay works. By roll back I do not mean use the Roll Back function in windows. Between each install I uninstall and use driver cleaner to remove all old files and settings.
I hope that nVidia is starting to notice this issue I have seen a few other forums with posts to this effect.

Well, I don't know how the frak they test these drivers, but the nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio does NOT work even though they "fixed" it for second release in a row. Perhaps they need to fix it another 2-3 times before they actualy fix it.
Morons.

The last beta previous to this one gave me many problems, which included losing many files on my backup hard disk.I was forced into a complete format of both hard drives on my pc.
Im asking now before i try this set out.

I wouldn't try them if you want solution to the correct aspect scaling issue. No matter what they say, it is not fixed.

well since i donīt have a WS LCD monitor i canīt say
but i can say that shadows in GRAW 2 is gone i had to go back to 158.22 to get shadows then again these are rather fast drivers in my opinion well had some graphical glitches in CM-DiRt
with DNA 158.22 and the new 100-105 patch R6Vegas crashes to desktop fpr me guess it is back and try these 162.18īs then well well
also i know my windows is behaing rather wierd canīt install COD 2 nor Far Cry so could be windows more than drivers or a combo
can you please tell me why everybody that can wants 1440x960 whatīs so special about that particular resolution?
anyways give thema shot and see what happens

1440 x 900 is the max for my monitor..every driver previous to the 160.xx series drivers worked fine for me.And i simply like my desktop to be in the highest rez i can get.Although not all the games i have support that rez fully, but i can live with that.
It's just a personal prefference....and i should not need to compromise a lower rez which also gives me eye stains.I find the 1440x900 gives me a more relaxing preference.
I also use the 158.22 drivers which work well...

ok i see well i have a 17" Xerox LCD/TFT wich supports max 1280x1024 not many games run too well on my computer at that rez like F.E.A.R. not if i max in gmae settings and use high AA using Nhancer
my rig is
E6600
8800GTS 640mb
feels wierd FEAR desonīt run like butter on my rig guess it is still a demanding game
well oblivion runs like shit at times then again that isnīt a supprise it is a very demanding game
well i guess iīm back to 158.22 drivers as shadows seems to work good on them at least in GRAW 2

Anyone else having issues with just plain desktop scaling? I have an AOC 22' WS Monitor and when I set the scaling to 1680x1050 the right side is cut off by about an inch. Most other WS sizes work but the native screen res. Grrr...another bad set. And if you notice on nVidia's site these are now a final set.

They have now got WHQL status...And the Desktop Scaling for widescreen lcds are still Fuc^&d up.
They still extend offscreen about an inch to right side on my HPw19 @ 1440x900 which is the max for my requirements.

Is that patch only for the 8 series cards?
I generally like to keep my display drivers up to date as close as i possibly can. It's only the 160.XX series drivers has gave me the scaling problem.
Im asking now before i go through the hasle of installing these drivers for a third time.

Yes it is for 8800 only,
There is a new version out of the fix today today aswell
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1684
With this theres no need to reinstall drivers or anything its just a reg tweak.

I don't understand...I didn't have problems with the resolution in the beta of this...but the WHQL man how f'd are they.
In my case I selected 1440x900, the sync from the card was something like 1280x1024. I don't get it. Back to 94.24 for me. Why is every company releasing crap software these days? Make it work before releasing it as a final...and how the heck does this get past WHQL testing...is there no WS checks?

Ugh, these are trash.
My fps didn't change in Lost Planet or FEAR but when I ran the Company of Heroes performance test there was massive amounts of tearing and missing textures. Also, there are no shadows in GRAW2.

Nvidia should stop worrying about gaining a frame per second and release a driver that doesn't f* up a game AND fixes some LONG standing issues. (like oh, FIXING WIDESCREEN FIXED ASPECT SCALING, or allowing SW Republic Commando to run beyond the main menu)

Ya, I'm getting so sick of trying to figure out which driver to use it's a huge mess with betas and a numbering system that seems to count backwards. Why can't Nvidia have AMD's one driver release per month?
