Quicktime update pestering with Itunes
Is there a way to configure Apple's "Softwareupdate" so it does not keep nagging with an Itunes "update"? I do not want to add an additional sales-orientated music player to the clutter, but I DO want to keep the security updates coming for Quicktime.

You could use QuickTime alternative, available at www.filehippo.com, then you need not have iTunes or QuickTime. I'm not sure if its more secure (seems to me like it might share the same inherent security flaws at the codec level but not the software level).

There IS a "don't ask" option, but it's from the menubar of the updater and only lasts for one update - very clumsy and poor design, unless the aim is to badger you into accepting Itunes.

Ya, what's with this bullcrap? The updater should give an option to get the Quicktime Standlone update just like their website not forcing you to get iTunes.
