It's a PDA for poor people...... no wait...., but it should be. It's a pda for people who think they own an advanced phone, but all they acutally get is bling bling

It's overpriced, no 3G, no real keyboard (which limits its use by people who can really afford it ... biz people), no expandability outside Safari, no swappable battery, no expansion slot. It would be great to have one as a status symbol (and if my contract was up I'd be tempted), but I'm not gonna pay $599 for one. It's a fanboy's dream, but other than that ... it's got a lot of whiz-bang but I think what it'll really do is spur MS to improve its smartphone platform.
I'm really surprised that people are snapping them up for over retail at eBay.

Im driven to despair by all this I-phone talk, out of curiousity has anyone actually commentated on the call quality yet? I can't bring myself to read the articles. I have to be honest I only got my first phone 4 months ago at the grand old age of 29 (O2 XDA for the toys), it still has £7.50 of the £10 of credit it had on it at the time I was given it and I mainly use it for playing patience in my dinner break. I'm phone-ophobic .

I've read plenty of reviews stating that the call quality is absolutely terrible

Sony Ericsson Walkman series > iPhone. Seriously. Phone is supposed to be a phone, not a shiny piece of crap that drains your wallet and be no use to you. What i need from phone is pretty laconic. Calling function, rarely SMS function, Walkman is a nice little add-in and well...Thats pretty much it. I'm so happy with W300i.

I don't have it for a number of reasons. First of all, it's unavailable here. Second, if I had an extra $500-600, I'd probably spend it on a vacation with my girlfriend, or, if I had to spend it on tech stuff, computer upgrade, or something, definitely not on a phone (not all, at least).
Also, from all I've read, even though the reviewers are generally praising it, I concluded that almost everything on that phone works almost perfectly ("almost" being the keyword in this sentence).
Not to mention that they could have made a "Made to rip you off" logo for it: apart from the high price, I've read that you can't use your own mp3s as ringtones, but only the ones you download and pay for, if you ever need a battery replacement you'd better be ready to say goodbye to your phone (for a few days), the data in it and an extra $87 (permanently)...

Can't guarantee, since I haven't actually been even near one. I only read the review on Anandtech, which is praising, but states some flaws (one of the things: if you type a lot of text, better stick to Blackberries), I read the news about the battery here, and some other stuff (like not being able to use your own mp3s as ringtones) I read today on the front page of PVP (the comic book) where the author gave a sort of user review in his blog. Everyone says that they love it, but they still mention a bunch of things that don't work too well.

The sole reason I even have a home phone is for my DSL connection or in the event that I need 9-1-1.
I haven't had any phoned hooked up except one and that one has had the ringer off for some time.

I have no cell phone, and no interest in getting one. If I did, I'd be getting the cheapest one available, all I need in a phone is the ability to make telephone calls.
So obviously, no interest in the iphone.
