Setting up Midi with Live Drive 2

Hi,

Can anyone give me a quick quide how to set up Midi with Kx and Live Drive 2. I am fairly competent with Kx but have no idea about Midi. (I actually intend to use the Midi to connect a electronic drum Module to dump settings, so if anyone has any experience with this, even better)

Thanks

well - the DUMP SETTINGS (sysex bulk dumps) will requires software to do this. for this there is little for set up, other than selecting the MIDI ports in that software.

Are there any settings that need to be made in the DSP or Router? I started my own DSP from scratch and only did the essentials, will I need to make more connections?

Thanks

kX UART midi has nothing to do with the DSP or kX router...
But if you want to direct MIDI IN to a kX Synth - you will need; (the DSP and router are now involved because of the kX Synths *audio* output)
- a soundfont loaded in (kX Mixer Soundfont page)
- to use FXBuss 2/3 (kX Synths audio output)
- and theres a MIDI SYNTH slider in the kX Mixer - make sure its not 'INF' (its 100 by default)
- software to connect kX UART MIDI INPUT to *any* MIDI OUTPUT - midiox - and will act as a sort of virtual MIDI cable while its running. It can also capture/send & load/save your sysex bulk dump too (tho - not a great 'sysex manager').
You can learn a lot about midi with this tool as well.

Also - I found this in the bug thread... it was reported for kX V3538J
3538J: MIDI Errors in bulk
- not sure if it was fixed or not... *looking* - I see no mention about if this was fixed in release after 3538J.
When I get a chance I'll try a MIDI bulk dump to see if it works for me or not.
