So... I own an iPhone...
They're pretty sleek people, for some reason thoughthey have silver backs instead of the full black finish people are expecting (Maby thats to destinguish between the 8gig and 4gig.)
Anyway -- activating it now through itunes, let you guys know how that goes...
*PS -- NEVER activate it in the store, the crazy lady had no idea what she was doing and almost charged me 20$ a month then I needed to pay.

Grats, I wouldn't pay that much for a stupid phone lol. I could spend it on a laptop and do more and use my current free w/ activation cell phone and get internet anywhere on my laptop (not on the slowest data network either).
hope ya enjoy it.

It is pretty sweet, softwares a little buggy.
1. Answering a text message during the setup screen freezes it for about 5 minutes.
2. Docing whilst watching youtube video (which btw LOOK GREAT) causes stuttering (stops as soon as phone is removed from dock)
Overall I really like it, and think it was worth it. the google maps features are really intuative and almost make it worth it right there.
Camera takes great pictures too.
Once again though, I must stress -- Don't listen to the cingular/AT&T reps if you go in to the store to activate, they are crazy -- always tell them you are buying it for some one else. Lot easier, even if you are just going to go home and set up a new account.

Youtube for iPhone changes that compress ratio of the file you are geting based on your speed. on EDGE they look kinda shity -- but on my wifi they look freakin great!

Baa moved to apple/mac!? NO one will read it now! lol
Anyway, found out somthing interesting about the zoom in capabilities of safari on the iphone.
if you double click on a table/div it will zoom in so that table/div is the focal point of your screen it is a nice feature and will allow for really easy navigation of sites like this and places like wikipedia.

so wait. the iphone just costs $600 straight off? and then you go activate it? So you don't have to have a service contract to buy one?

considering ALL syncing is done through iTunes, you'd need it either way

With all the additional charges the iphone sounds like a con to me,
i don't like having an uber fancy phone anyway, it seems that as price goes up durability goes down, i've dropped mine a fair few times and the worst that ever happened was that i had to turn mine back on once

Well if iPhone would sell here in Europe it must have 3G support. I'm not seeing that support soon so Apple won't take big piece of the global phone market.

Nope no 3g, I still enjoy it though -- no 3g saves on my battery life considerably.

Yeah it is... Well US market don't need 3G since there are no 3G networks to speak off. Back here in Europe the 3G networks are getting bigger and bigger. So Apple might do 3G version for the European market.... And off course rest of the world

we have 3g here...in big cities.
you just have to emit the proper smoke signals to initiate a connection, but once the carrier pigeon comes over and drops you a line, it downloads like lightning

wow i was actually wrong about the iphone in terms of durability, i saw that thread in the news article about shock testing it, zomfg, it almost pained me to watch them putting it through it's paces o.o
looks like apple have made something USEFUL for once that can withstand more impact than a fly landing on it, still overpriced

Actually AT&T have a 3G network, and the iPhone doesn't actually support it at all.
