FM 'emulator' soundfont up for grabs, GM compatible

1 Megabyte of beautiful FM synthesis that doesnt reak of cheese! It's like a HAMBURGER only better! check it out i'd love to know what you think. Works best on an SBLIVE! soundcard with KXdrivers (dont use creative's drivers it wont sound right) This will also work with an audigy soundboard, but may not sound as good. Bring back nostalgia with this neat little ditty - go grab yourself some midi's from wolfenstein/rise of the triad/doom/blakestone and go see what i mean. Spanks the default pack-in gm soundfont that comes with your soundcard - so enjoy this and PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THIS you may email questions/comments AND PLEASE SEND IN BUG REPORTS if you find anything that sounds 'broken' - hit me up at NOCOUCH AT HOTMAIL dot com. For those of you familiar with old school MODS it's got a sound similar to that and similar to a sega genesis/SB16. Here is a link to this file, since i could NOT upload it here. http://download.yousendit.com/339AD5446731684E

Maddogg6 will become famous soon enough

Interesting... I would have never guessed SF's can sound so much different between my SBLive and Audigy - I wonder why this is..?? but your right some sounds are massivly 'aliasing' in my A2 - but not so in the SBLive.. although I still get a bit of aliasing with some patches on some keys (not always on HIGH keys either..??)
Well done either way.

I have some old FM emulations I D/L somewhere 'Vintage Dreams' - IIRC there were 2 - another named 'vdw.sf2' (many samples are single cycle waves) and it doesn't have this same difference between BSLive and my A2.

*opinion to follow*
Theres a place for FM - particularly with the ability to change FM synth params in real time.. .but not possible when emulated with a sample based synth. But I have used em before at times, but all in all - to say this bank 'spanks' the GM sound font that came with my card is a bit of an exaggeratedly sales pitch
* end opinion*

But, pretty cool to add to the arsenal of sounds library.
Thanks for it....

In response to maddog -
True, one could view it (my saying it is much better than the GM bank) as an opinion thats overdone itself, as far as being better, but if you listen to what i do, it definately is- i think my opinion is coming from someone who is too biased toward the synth sound... but then again, i always despised that GM pack-in bank from day one, so there you have it. Hope you get some good sound out of it, cause if your not, it's not setup right (trust me, it's got a different sound on every card, and hardly works on an x-fi without dropping notes, go figure!) Just skip creative's drivers and keep your SBlive handy and you'll be fine. If you can suggest how to improve, let me know, i'd love to hear it. I am still working on aliasing, as im limited in the amount of samples im using, it is tough but it's getting better. Thanks

exclamation For those who want a more recent version...

For those who want an updated version of my soundfont, you may message me on AIM in the evenings (USA eastern time), from 5pm to 11pm, i am usually about the computer during those times. Get ahold of me on AOL IM client my name is Shananegin (yes i know the spelling, type it right in just like that) i've been working on it steadily and the compatability is really up there. Every other week on average i put a new version up. If you like anime/FM/Chiptune (i stress chiptune extensibly!!!) in your midi then this is for you. Great for Amiga/mod/sega/nes sounding midi's. If you want the version for NES songs (the difference is the nes triangle bass on "fingered bass" setting) i have that one seperate. I will not be making new versions with the nes fingered bass any longer as i have replaced it with a ym77 chip bass (e.g. Sega Genesis) and it sounds superior to that. Thanks for your time and just message me if you want it i'll send it over AIM when i get the message.
