Here's another one from my friend: - This House
Inside this house, inside its rooms,
I roam with constant fear.
Outside its walls I am not safe:
The masses scream and jeer.
Inside this house, I watch and wait:
When will they next attack?
Will it be by trojan horse?
A friend to stab your back?
Inside this house, I live alone;
I know its secrets well.
Its shadowed spaces give me warmth;
Its front door leads to Hell.
Inside this house, the seals are tight:
They keep out any draft.
The times when I went out for air,
I choked as people laughed.
Inside this house, it's nice and dim:
I feel its warm embrace.
Within its walls, I can't be seen:
I move without a trace.
Inside this house I can be free,
As strange as that may sound.
Though under siege and trapped within,
I'm free to move around.
Inside this house, it's lonely still;
The outside can't come in.
If one gets through and isn't true
The pain will soon begin.
Inside this house, inside my home,
Inside my favourite den,
I sit and think and watch the fire
'Till sleep takes me again...
If you've knocked upon the door, but no one had replied,
It doesn't mean I wasn't home: just sleeping deep inside.
