??? ASIO + SB Live! 5.1 + SB Audigy

Good morning everyone out there!

Ok here is my noob question:

RIG:

Athlon 1000
1 GB DDR RAM
40 GB HDD
SB Live! 5.1
SB Audigy
(Motherboard integrated audio disabled in XP)
Windows XP

Mixer
Behringer EURORACK UB2442FX-PRO

What I'm trying to do is:

Get the maximum indipendent inputs from the Mixer to the PC (Cubase SX2)...

Ok first try:

Audigy + Integrated sound + ASIO4ALL...
Can get 4 ASIO inputs via ASIO4ALL but the 2 of the integrated sound have a near-null gain (and ca't use it with TOTAL noise in the background)

Ok second try:

Add Live! 5.1 ->
Audigy + Live! 5.1 + ASIO4ALL...
When I try to activate the 2 cards in ASIO4ALL Cubase Hangs UP...

Ok third try:

ASK HERE!

It would be fantastic to get 12 mono input (8 for the direct outputs of the first 8 lines from the mixer and 4 for the 4 subchannels of the mixer - I can redirect to the 4 subchannels the remaining mixer lines that don't have a direct output...)

I've downloaded the kx drivers yesterday late night and I'm gonna try them soon to see what I can get, bus as I read here they can manage only 1 card at a time via ASIO...

Any help/guide (I'm just a noob in audio recording...) would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks a lot!

Marco

P.S. Sorry for my awful english...

With ASIO applications you can only select one card. However, you can link 2 cards together with an SPDIF cable. This is a HOST / CLIENT relationship. The inputs from the CLIENT card will appear on the host card.

If you have just the SB0090 without the DRIVE, you can get 4 mono inputs from that with a slight bit of modification.

Then you can get 2 more using your Live 5.1 card cabled into your SB0090. So a total of 6 mono inputs with your current setup and kX.

You can be the first to look at these webpages I put together. Please give me some feedback to let me know if you understand what I was trying to get across on these pages.

Get 4 inputs with your Audigy

Install 2 sound cards with kX

Good luck

???

Some others:

Try 1:

ASIO4All new version
Creative drivers fo audigy and live!

I can see only one card in ASIO4All

Try 2:

Istall kxDrivers for both cards.

Configuring the DSP... I'm embarassed...
Removed the default,
connected AC97 in (left/right) in the prolog to the first two ASIO channels (in a total of 16) in the epilog...

No sound...

Try 3:

Install kxDrivers and ASIO4All...

It gets both card!!Jubelee!!!.... Wait...
No sound...

I have 4 ASIO inputs, but if connected to Cubase lineins I have no audio...

I've seen that (srtange) the peaks of the four mono channels (mapped to the 4 ASIO inputs) go up (as if some imputs is coming) when I test front left/right speakers of each card using kxMixer embedded speaker test...

Tried to record...

Yes.. i Get the blin/blon of the test in my tracks instead of any inputs...

Any help greatly appreciated

Maddogg6 will become famous soon enough

Have a look at some of these guides - and maybe ask more specific questions about what your not understanding - and if its ASIO4ALL related - maybe their forums will be some help as well.

http://www.driverheaven.net/general-...mentation.html

But I will say this - if you dont hear an input in cubase - its becuase of 1 of 2 reasons.

Track monitor is not enabled (SW monitoring) in cubase
or
Prolog (phsical inputs) is not mixed in (with FXBuss aka ASIO playback) or otherwise is NOT sent to the physical outputs via EPILOG. (Hardware monitoring)
