Vienna 2.4 and older Emu10k1 cards ?

hi

I have an Emu APS soundcard, based on same dsp as Soundblaster (Emu10k1).

I have managed to download and install the "new" Vienna 2.4 - seems to run fine (was having many save error problems with 2.3).

The APS is not listed as a compatible soundcard.

Is there any (theoretical) reason why they shouldn't work together ?

I'm using the official Emu XP drivers for APS.

thanks

No - Vienna IIRC still advertises support for SBLives - which an APS is (almost). It still supports AWE's (Pre-SBLives - ISA cards)

Introducing SoundFonts and Vienna SoundFont Studio 2.4

SoundFont technology is an audio sampling format that was developed jointly by E-MU and Creative Labs in the 1990s. Currently, there is an abundance of SoundFont-compatible devices such as Creative's AWE, Live!, Audigy and of course, the Sound Blaster X-Fi series of sound cards.

Thanks - that's reassuring !

As I said, it seems to actually work better than 2.3 - have stopped getting errors now

I've doggedly stuck with this card since 2000 but only dabbled a few times with the Kx drivers - I'm afraid I found them very confusing

Not sure if anyone round here has been in the same boat as me, but I've found the Emu XP drivers very stable (and liberating....340 MB soundfonts etc.).

All the best

I LOVED the APS drivers for 98 (I used APSLive for sometime until I upgraded to XP - and switched to kX)...

But I dont even miss em anymore...kX kicks APS butt - at the cost of a learning curve.

About kx drivers and Vienna

Hello, this is my first time, but I have a few years using Kx 3537 drivers with my SB live 5.1 and just work great, Ok I`ve to say that actually have 2 pc`s running with a SB. live, each using Xp for system, but one is using the original sb live drivers and have not enough polyfonia and the music cuts sound very often, but I´ve been keeping those drivers because they are Vienna 2.3 compatible and the Kx drivers can`t support vienna 2.3,
and you know, if you have a card that works like a sampler, then you wanna use it with your own creations too. Now I`ve downloaded the vienna 2.4 and I gonna try it, I hope it works fine with Kx drivers...

I want to say also, and I hope somebody can explain o may help me, because I `ve tried several times to update kx drivers 3537 to some 3538 versions and 3541 but they give me the polyfonia problem like the sb live drivers, and for this reason i`ve keeping 3537 version that works fine for me, but I could see some of the desirable upgrades of the more advanced drivers, Ok, I hope some body want to help with this matter.
