R600 a lost bet?
320 shader processors, and less performance than 8800 GTS?
Ok, its a new Architeqture, and may only show its muscles on pure DX10 apps... may someone can help me to understand this...
I was exited & wait like 100000 days; now and all reviews make me doubt.... wat's happening?...

Wait on the drivers....... You will see an improvement, and Im willing to bet HD2900 will show its real power in DX10.
Seems the Nvidia lineup to me from benches and whatnot is a ultra topend DX9 with preliminary DX10 support and performance. Which I suppose is acceptable since DX10 hasnt even hit the market mainstream yet, only demos and speculation still unfortunately.

I think you mean the PC demo for Lost Planets: EC, right? There are 2 versions of the demo: one for DX9, and one for DX10. You can get the DX10 version from Gamershell, and from both DX9/10 versions from 3dgamers.

Omg guys there is something wrong with the reviews.I live in rome italy.
I was waiting for the r600 because i heard it was going to be revolutionary. Then two days back i heard its coming out so i ordered it via by guy who i buy stuff from anyway i read the reviews that were going are web and i told him yesterday that if he can cancel my order cuz i saw that 8800 Gtx or even gts 640 was better than xt on most but not all so i thought its not a good investment for 450 euros, as many reviewers said gts is still better so i thought il buy it instead or the gtx.
i paid 450 euros today since he could not cancel it....i had to take it...
I got the Asus Eah2900xt , i was thinking all night why the asus made this card their flagship instead of the 8800 if it wasn;t so good and just 3 hours ago i picked it up fromt he shop.
I have pictures and i got stalker with it + day of defeat which i can download + 3 other game coupons.
At first i thought omg such a big mistake of my life and i was going to be devastated.I know 450 euros is a lot of money and this is my first very expensive card.
I was soo depressed i then put it on my pc and omg i can;t believe i believed the crap that is coming out of most reviews out there. I was getting way higher FPS * Around 25 fps higher on an average in all the games i used which were FSX crysis demo fear and farcry.
I used the driver cd by asus and now that i think about it you get 5 new games + this card for 450... pretty good investment as 5 games : 250 euros.. + this card only paying (200 euros) lool..
THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING THING IN MY COMPUTER AND IT WAS WORTH everypeny... by the ONE BIGGASS problem make sure your pc is super coooled it gets HOT AS HELL you couldn;t believe i got 5 fans and still at max it was at 50 degress i thought it was going to blow up. Offcourse then i check it goes up to 60 is safe.
Have a big box goood power supply and a very good cooling system i am advising liquid cool super.I need to buy it with a new psu.
anyway guys i just thought id say that this card owns.Truely is the Future of Hd gaming as when i played stalker it proved.
i got 1680x1050 lg monitor btw
They dont give you the 8 pin cable btw... you have to order it and i have not overclocked and i never will.I also just had a look in Oblivion *italian version looll i got 13 fps average higher than the GTX
regards,
jao

Far Cry and Fear? Those games are too old to show any real benifits
And so you mean to say that every review in the world is wrong? The card isn't horrendous and at low resolutions of 1680x1050 (and a low spec CPU maybe, got no clue what you have but a 8 series needs a killer CPU to be fully taken advantage of) it might be stronger.
But crank up the resolution, add some very high demanding AA and AF settings and add in DX10 and the general aspect is that ATI/AMD sorta failed on this one.

Price/performance is everything and not much money is made at the very top of the performance segment. Just something to remember.

273 and 1/4 years is a wee bit long don'tcha think
I won't make a definitive judgement until i see alot more results, and a few driver updates. theres utterly no reason hardware wise for it to be lagging behind enless the silicon is in extremely rough shape.
What happened to the results that were posted over @ at that one site that had benchmarked it back in decemember? Those results were showing a hell of alot better results.
I'm guessing that the drivers launched on the cd are quite old or something.

may we need pure DX10 tests
come on guys, we understand, after 60 fps all the frames render we don’t see them, but, the quality of the image its the important, when I was looking for a DX9c video card I wait until the X1xx Series come out and I pick a X1800XT, but before that I had, a FX5500, a R9550, a Geforce 4 and a radeon 7500, all of them were different in its time, I know bouts brands; Nvidia is always wit the nose on all projects, trying getting more image, and its hardware is robust; ATI besides, had a different way, have a little bunch of projects, but its looking for really good image quality, some time forgetting that in windows the hardware needs drivers to work... (LOL and linux I use it too)

may it will be better if other mark were at the market, and the fight its for our benefit, if you pick ATI o NVIDIA isnt my problem, I will pick the better too...

but the reality is that this card is design for DX10 and anyone have a pure test of DX10, that wasn’t design for Nvidia cards...

I saw some results of complex shaders, in site that I cant find again, may driverheaveen can help me, of 3dmark06, the pure tests of vertex and pixels, you can see... that HD2900 its superior than 8800, not at twis but close....
here are test wit the new drivers http://www.chilehardware.com/Revisio...-200705131808/

er... after 60fps we don't see them....
well i guess it depends on your monitor at that point i'll agree, but higher fps is always better, means usually that the average and lowest fps is even higher.
but we won't get started on that debate again
btw, those results almost always showed the hd2900xt ahead of the game....
