Uninstalling.

Hi - I recently tried uninstalling, as after installing these drivers, I lost all sound completely.

So I ran the uninstall link in the Start Menu, and it seemed to have worked, however:

1.) On startup, the mixer still tries to load. I presume something is still left behind, as the splash image shows, and then says it cannot find a device.

2.) All the drivers are still referenced in Device Manager.

3.) It has rendered my sound card inoperable it appears, as when I downloaded and tried to reinstall the default drivers ( Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital ) , it doesn't even recognise the card is plugged in, and fails at the first step.

Please advise as to how I go about remedying this, as I don't want to go through days of reinstalling software if the only solution is to re-install windows.

I am not sure why the uninstall did not work for you, I would give it another try. You can use the kX installer to remove the drivers (in case the start menu shortcuts were removed).

Driver Cleaner Pro is another option.

I am guessing that you are trying to install the wrong drivers. The above is likely for the Dell OEM model and not the one you want. Use the original driver CD (if possible) as there are no downloadable drivers avaialble on the CL website for some models.

Yeah, I've tried several - it was OEM to begin with, and as far as I remember (or at least, I can't find it!) it didn't come with a disk.

I'll try running the installer again, thanks for your help.

Do you know the specific model number (SB0xxx)?
Did the kX driver not work for you?

If you remove the drivers manually (in Device Manager) and let Windows re-detect it, what model does Windows think it is?
