AiW 9200 problem.

Recently, I've taken an interest in making video gaming vids and posting them on YouTube. And so I've decided what better way to make my own PVR than to use my (late) dad's All in Wonder 9200 AGP. Here's the problem: I've gotten the video to work fine, but I can't get any sound. I've hooked up my Gamecube's Analog AV cables to the composite video slots. I've downloaded the recent Catalyst drivers, and I still can't get any sound. What exactly am I doing wrong? I'm not using any sound cards at this moment, only headphones connected to the PC (could that be part of the problem?)

Any help is much appreciated..

Okay, now I have another problem. I've just installed the updates, and now I keep getting the "TV player failed to initialize" error. I just keep making it worse!

System Specs

I would try uninstalling the updates. Then once you get it back to where you were in post #1, plug the GC audio into the Line In on the soundcard and you should be uploading to YouTube in no time flat

Well, here's the thing.. I uninstalled the updates, reinstalled using the Catalyst cd that came with the AiW... And the downloads get errors! (I haven't the faintest idea of how my dad was able to get it working). Now they're not even working at all (gives out the old "this program encountered an error and needs to close" nonsense everytime I click on the TV button), the only thing I'm able to do now is access the Catalyst Control Center. I don't have much of a choice but to use the updates.

I got it working finally (thanks, by the way), but I'm skeptical of how long It'll last.

... Oh yeah, it's time I come clean: The only reason I was using my GC was to test and to see if I could get a game console to work (the laser on my GC gave out years ago anyway). What I'm really planning to do is use the PS2 and Nero Vision to make some clips of a PS1 import (Super Robot Wars Alpha) to put on YouTube.

Keep in mind, if you're not already aware of it, that you will not be able to install newer video drivers on that AIW 9200. You'll have to use CAT 6.5 or older. Only 'true' DirectX 9 cards are supported by the newer video drivers.

Cheers and good luck!

absolutely

While I did get the Multimedia Center back where I started, I still can't get any sound from it. My sound card (which is a Sound Blaster Live! Value card) DOES have a "Line-in" slot, but the Compostie audio cable isn't able to connect with it. I am (for some strange reason) able to get sound on Nero Vision 4's "Capture Video" mode, but when I make and export the video, I get absolutely no sound on Divx, Windows Media Player, or any media player for that matter.

It's one freaking problem after another with me.

On all the ATI AIW cards I've used through the years, the dongle that came with them had a Stereo Plug that was used to go into the Audio card's Line In. The Composite Audio is to output to a TV or VCR/DVD player.

Doesn't yours have that plug?

I know what I'm missing now. This:

Does anyone know where I can find this? Or am I out of luck?

Are you missing the entire dongle? If so, did you happen to get this card used, off the Internet, or was it simply missing from the box?

I'm pretty sure my father bought it from a store. He had a (really annoying) knack for losing his belongings. After looking in the online ATI store, I came across this:

If you look closely, you can see the A/V Out (Vid Out) connector:

Should I buy it? It doesn't seem like it wouldn't work.

EDIT: After futher inspection of the videos I've caputured, I've come to the discovery that there IS sound, only, it's so small to the point were it's almost inaudible.

This software is screwing with me..

You're likely picking up the Digital Audio and need to turn up the Recording Level in the GUI.

I'm not presently using an AIW card and don't even have the MMC installed right now. But, I recall having to turn up the recording level quite a bit...probably 75-80% at least. You can turn down the output level during the playing of the game, but keep the recording level up.

You say you have the AIW 9200? Is it US or UK model?

For the sake of correctness, in the pictures of the dongles... that 1/8" male jack doesn't go to the mic in but to the Line In. You won't get proper sound out of the mic in because of the +20dB boost
