SKY BROADBAND (customer service)
Every evening round 9 or 10 I lose internet connectivity on my wireless and I am very keen on calling SKY to get help. On almost every single occasion the tech on the other side of the phone is an IRISH person from Dublin. I thoroughly enjoy talking to these folks and they all stay on long enough to indulge my curioisity and have a laugh or two. I find them very intelligient, funny and very dry with their wit. I dont mind talking to IRISH people, and they actually fix every single problem I have so far. Customer service is important to me, because I have a speech impediment, and occasionally it comes through, and they are very kind. Every time I speak to them, I mention DRIVERHEAVEN.NET and I hope they pop in now and then or join the site, would like to see more IRISH folks in the forums, so far I only know of one IRISHMAN that comes here regularly..LOL

It just so happens that tech support know nothing 99% of the time, and customer service are arseholes 99% of the time but we don't use sky for tv or broadband so we're fine.
we use virgin, and when they bought blueyonder they screwed everything up for a week or 2 then it was all fine again until our router started dying.
Belkin however, eesh i don't even wanna go there but hey, first the website went down...
THEN they didn't provide a tech support number,
THEN they CHANGED the tech support number <_<
god some companies get away with murder when it comes to treating their customers right, btw what happens with the speech impediment? stutter?

Support in general usualy sucks. I still have a laugh when I had problems with my ISP and I had to tell them my password (to be sure I was typing the correct password) and the woman on the other end told me that I had a TOO difficult password and she doesn't understand why i would want such a difficult PASSWORD.

^ i presume the password was PASSWORD? ;p
And Necrosis, i only said 99% of the time, not 100% XD
and virgin isn't really a wireless company i don't think Jeff, we just have a
cable broadband modem hooked up to a router, i don't think Virgin know we're even
wireless <_< >_>

Thats good.I've been with sky.com BB service now for the last 4 to 6 months now,And am currently on a 16mb connection for £10 pm.
I have had to call the tech support several times within this time and all have been English. So i suppose this could be a difference in location.
Jeff are you actually able to use the email address Sky has given you? via the Sky BB Homepage.I have had my password reset now 3 times and i am still unable to access my online account. All the replys end up the same "Sorry sir this is an ongoing problem and the Technicians are working on the problem now" every time.
After all this has been the same for the last 4-6 months..just how long does it take to fix?
I also have to reset my modem at least once every 2 days to gain access to the internet. At this pont i'd have to say that Sky BB is one of the worst ISP's i have used.I have also tried the wireless connection and i only gained around a 2meg connection at best,at worst it was worse than dial up.

funny you should mention that, but I typed my user ID in lower case and it worked, but I called anyway, that is when I chatted with the fellow from Dublin. I am glad, because people from Belfast are almost impossible to understand...LOL j/k

Sky's BB is not tottally wireless either. It's only due to this is because sky supply us with a Netgear Super Wireless ADSL Modem/Router DG834 GT.

try calling again and specify that you cant unlock your account perhaps, I spoke with a tech that knew when my letter with my password and ID were mailed along with my account number, we went to the SKY website and he walked me through the process several times and it worked. It was a combination of several things that messed it up. Dont give up Johnny B.

Thanks Jeff... I did not give up on this issue.I just got bored of calling Tech Support.
I actually got hold of an Asian Women with a strong accent and she was actually more helpful than all previous technicians (if you can call them that).
What she told my actually worked..
