Ignorance runs rampant in the back woods of America. If there is ever anything that scares me about the US, its that people like this family exist and have influence over other people in the country.

These are the kind of people that would see me shot and my wife hung because I am white and she is black.

These are the people that would see another member of my family burned at the stake for being a lesbian.

These are the people that would want a separate country (housed within the US for defense purposes, of course) for just pure white, straight, toothless rednecks like themselves.

I can't say that its hard to believe that people like this exist. My wife and I have been subject to people like this when we went on vacation about 5 years ago. They are ruthlessly ignorant, and trying to debate with one of them is like throwing ball bearings at a rubber wall. It doesn't matter what angle you throw the BB, it always bounces off- sometimes unpredictably.

If there was one thing about humanity that I would change, it would be that people that live with this kind of hate in their lives were sterile and not allowed to adopt so their kind could die out naturally. Maybe we need to remove their vocal chords too, so they can't speak.

I don't hate them, I pity their ignorance and their blind hatred.

It's those sort of people that cause me to struggle with whether the rights of free-speach should always be upheld. Surely there should be a point where confinement and rehabilitation (into a society that upholds equality for all) becomes a necessity to protect the greater good of society.

On the other hand, how would you regulate such a law and stop any corruption or manipulation of legislation?

I don't even need to see the video to know what everyone is talking about. What makes me sick is the fact they claim to be Christian and they don't act like it. I do think that being gay is a sin but I'm not about to go out and do what these people do. It's almost like the Salem Witch Trials.

I agree, people can have their opinions and be quite be forceful if they want but there is a limit as to how far one should be able to go. Insulting the dead soldier's family and wishing their son/husband/father death in the afterworld is... it should be considered a crime of some sorts.

That's a really hard one. Half of me thinks there should be a limit on free speech when it could incite violence while the other half hates the thought of any restrictions on free speech. It can be so dangerous to preach hatred and intolerance.

I dunno I agree, goverments shouldn't impose laws on freespeech but well, on some things they could. I know that here, you cannot by law say the halocaust didn't happen (if you do blatently say it, you can go to jail for a long time) but in the US, you can. Now yes, I don't have "that" freedom of speech to say that but it doesn't destroy the country I live in. On extreme cases such as this, maybe it's worth reducing the freedom of speech for all?
