So that NGO web site, is that the same group that makes the alternate driver? Or is it a different NGO?
Thanks.

It's the same group (ngohq.com). You can find both standard Catalyst with the CP as well as the NGO ATI Optimized driver there.

I'll likely be using the NGO drivers for 7.3 as soon as Regeneration gets them posted.
However, I'm finding that the new CCC is working much faster and with a lot less overhead than previous versions. I'm presently using the official ATI 7.3s with CCC AND the ATT. So far, no problems.

I don't understand why people still refrain from using CCC, IMHO it's a great piece of software and I can't see any tangiable benefits with using the old CP.

Because it's a slow, buggy piece of garbage.

That's a pretty good point.
I still prefer the original ATI Control Panel to anything, because it is leaner, cleaner and actually more efficient in terms of accessing and changing the settings. At least for me, anyway.
But the profiles and other stuff provided by the ATI Tray Tools app are really quite handy.
Most apps I have tried that rely on the .NET framework are much slower and more bloated than the competition. Those .NET libraries are just horribly inefficient compared to the tight, optimized libraries written in Assembly or C/C++. It's seems just as bad as the old Visual Basic runtime when compared to properly optimized and compiled libraries.
Microsoft is basically crippling the 3rd party scene by pushing devs to use the .NET libraries while they still use the more efficient libraries. People seem willing to sacrifice quality and speed for convenience, and side by side, Microsoft apps will actually look faster by comparison. People are such lemmings sometimes...
