GH Review: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Shivering Isles
Read The Review Here
_______________________________
Who better to handle this review than a guy who has probably spent a solid year gaming with the original Oblivion? DH/GH review Lewis "Dyre_Straits" Turner, delves into the mythical world of Shivering Isles and delivers his opinions. It is a worthy follow up to the Gaming Heaven public voted "Game Of The Year 2006"?
It’s been quite some time since I anticipated something with so much excitement that my palms became sweaty and my pulse raced. But, the nearer I came to arriving at the local Fry’s Outpost Tuesday afternoon of the 27th of March, the more excited I got. Anyone who’s been reading the DriverHeaven forums for any length of time over the past year will already know what a fan I am of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. (Fanatic, anyone?)

It would have been blasphemy if Dyre wasn't the one doing a Shivering Isles review
Hey Dyre, how come you don't use HDR+AA in all those screenshots?

I have problems with the game just starting stutter and if you waited a little while it would be fine again. And I cannot enter xeddefen (fortress/cave in the fringe), it crashes the game no matter what I do.
I tried running without background programs, reïnstalled the whole game, run it without the unofficial plugins I'm using, nothing helps.

Spent the last two days wandering around the fringe (entrance to the shivering isles) with my lvl41 elven archer before despatching the gatekeeper. Haven't stept foot through the gates yet though. The elderscroll series rewards the player willing to put in the hours, I've clocked just short of 300 hours in game so far, I only have 4 of the mages guild quests to finish before I'm head of every guild, I'll have every experience point from the original game.
As mentioned this is the first and last fullscale expansion for oblivion, bethesda have one final release in this series which is an extension on the fighters guild, then unfortunately thats it. Fingers crossed that work is well under way on the next in the series and that it matches the scale and magnitude of the previous two games. The elderscroll games truly are without equal and are without a shadow of a doubt my favourite games of all time, the only other games I've put close to the amount of time into are the Neverwinter Nights games.

I have the game but still have yet to play it. With Stalker, C&C I just have too many pc games atm.

Actually, I do use HDR myself. The screenshots for the review were from another source.
I'm glad I got to do the review, too.
@Bart1987: Try reducing your system to the default clock speeds and see if that helps.
@Lelisevis: My Dark Elf Battlemage is at Level 43 now.

I'm still trying to get through Rainbow Six:Vegas after you told me to try it on Hard mode. It took me hours just to advance a little in some of the tougher spots.
It can wait, I was in the beta for the Oblivion mod OOO and barely even played the actual mod so I'm doing that now plus KOTN+SI.
