Lovely card, i've had the BFG version since launch. The rest of your rig will be the limiting factor with that card. I couldnt believe the components in my setup limited mine. Had to bump the processor for it to show it's potential. I can score around the 9500 mark with some moderate 24/7 overclocks.
My only concern is that by the sounds of it the 640mb GTS is being discontinued so if you ever plan on SLi you'll have to grab one soon. Checking my usual online stores shows they are being phased out with that new half-arsed, half memory model taking over. Bummer.

Also there should be a new driver out in a few days; hopefully before the week is over. Grats again on the sweet new card

Joined the club with new setup...
Went AM2 From my old XP-M Barton at 2.4Ghz with OC'ed ta crap 6800 agp.
8800GTX and 3Ghz on this Orleans Core got me this:
Dual cores really bump the numbers up! But this was built for gaming, and there are only a hand full of games that are multi threaded that I know of.
My proc is Definitely the bottleneck... Waiting on my Freezer 64 pro to add more clock, I'd like to get into the 8k mark with a single core!

Madgoat, yep you nailed it with your procesor thoughts, I get that stock with an 8800GTS and can hit mid 9000's with the same GTS. Shame really but I guess you'll add to it in time, especially with the price of processors dropping so low. Thats unless you want to swap cards .

Thats funny to see we have pretty much the same setup! And yeah, I figured I'd buy a cheaper proc for my first AM2 and not worry if I blew it up. But this thing can take a beating! Once the smaller cores come out and prices drop... I'll look into a dual core, But for now this thing murders anything I hand it!

I was previously running a dell dimension with a new 7950gtx card.
I recently built a new system and used evga step up.
My system is now eVGA 680i mobo, 2gb 1066/8500 RAM, and an 8800gtx, the 2nd card is on the way. I'm really stoked. The graphical improvements are great with just the one card so far.. I can't wait to see how it works with the 2nd one. Using the Antec 900 case and yesterday my CPU 32 degrees celcius. I turned down a fan control to low to stop the noise.. and now its 44 celcius (thats all the OC ive done)
Question 1) : Should I really update the bios on the cards? I notived an 8800gtx bios update on the evga/nvidia sitez. I've not done any benchmarking or overclocking yet, everything is stock.
Question 2) : Where is a good place to look up how to SAFELY over-clock my hardware in bios w/o frying my board, ram, cpu, hdd's

Theres no such thing as safe overclocking or updating the bios, I certainly wouldnt attempt to flash the bios unless your perfectly happy throwing a brand new card in the bin, it really is that risky. When I did mine if i'd stood up at the time I'd have picked my seat up with me my ass was clenched that tight. It's a 50/50 thing at best.
With your rig and setup you have no need to overclock the graphics card, not for a long long time.

Nice system gutterpunk :-)
How much oc headroom did the HR-03plus give you?
I got my 8800gtxs back in december so the cores were fresh of the assembly line. They prolly improved the manufactoring process since then. With stock I got 635mhz (occational artifact in atitool), with the HR03plus I get 650 artifact free, and memory oc has also improved :-)
(Running with newest bios on the gfx)

I haven't found a way to OC my card in vista yet.
Can you post or send me a pic on your setup for your hr-03 plus thanks!
I can't wait to get to oc with it though I may boot xp to do it.

unless you have an apple cinema display, there is no need to update the BIOS. the BIOS update only fixes the apple cinema display problem. the problem is that some people who were using such displays did not get a display, but were able to boot into windows just fine aside from that.

yea. she didn't. she was busy doing her homework to admire what it is that she has right now.
and cook.... you're funny .
her machine just lacks one thing.....more RAM. w/that powerful card that she has now, Black & White 2 was still quite a bit choppy, especially when you zoomed out. Dark Messiah would lag for a little bit when a new level or new area would load up. haven't benchmarked it yet though, so dunno how that will turn out.
I found out that she'll also need a new drive as her C:\ drive. her 36Gb raptor is quite small and only has about 5Gb of free space. She still has about 4.8Gb more space than me though on my 36Gb Raptor

There's the man. What brought on this generosity?
Do you have some new, better goodies planned for yourself soon? Or are you taking it easy for now, and wanna let her get her gaming on?
