FWIW, Klipsch has discontinued the upgraded model to this set, the Klipsch 5.1 Ultra, and there remains no computer speakers that can match these other than the Creative S750, which is also discontinued.

I still have a set of these going strong. Changed out the control pod to the Ultra too. I've had mine since 2002..can't believe it's been that long.

I had Klipsch - didn't dig 'em - I got the Altec Lansing ADA 890's instead - years ago. Now I find myself using headphones almost exclusively.

I got a 5.1 Ultra set. They simply sound great. Had them for about 2 yrs now, though I just recently found out that I need to replace one of the satellites, because the tweeter is dead. I still have my 2.1s also. Still going strong for 6yrs now, though I need to change the control pod.

The speakers sound great A++ transaction. Easy to work with. UPS sucked balls but thats not either of our faults.

Advice for speaker use:

Try the sub out in different places, near walls and/or corners will generally be louder, put it where it sounds best to you.

Leave the output levels at 0 on the control pod, unless you need to up the rear speakers to make up for distance. (or equivalent)

If you ever get the urge to upgrade, the speakers and speaker wire can be swapped out for any standard speakers and wire, just check the resistance before hand, the amp should drive most bookshelves fine. The sub also has an output to hook up a regular powered subwoofer.

So I just got into giving some gains on the speakers. I put some gains on the rear speakrs and it has made a performance difference. If there is any set of speakers that sound like an auditorium (like quality of sound) this is it! Like it feels like it is coming right at me. I can't have the rears set up properly as I don't have stands or the room to set up a great 5.1 but it sounds so sexy! It took me awhile to get them to work properly but its all good now! I bought the audigy 2 zs from mr. saberz so we will see if I get a sound boost in quality from onboard sound.

Oh yeah, I know a few times already these speakers have made my heart skip beats from the amazing sound. Even though I'm in an apartment complex I will enjoy them when the people below aren't home.
