I sorta am, I'm getting Home Premium, although it'll be a long while before I get a new graphics card. At the least I'll have to wait for a mid-range DirectX 10 card to be released that I can afford at some point.

Voted for "I guess, but I can't afford a new video card right now" must add that I can't afford DX10 video card ... And there aren't many DX10 games out so might update when there are more games supporting DX10...

Not at all.
I'm more interested in getting OpenGL to work in Vista so people can play their Quake / Doom engine games.
DX 9 is plenty good enough for me. Lord of the Ring Battle for Middle Earth II and Rise of the Witch King look INCREDIBLE with things just the way they are. So does Far Cry - still.

Tekken 5, baby!
But I need my PC for first person shooters. I cannot play 'em on a console. I've tried.

Im looking forward to seeing what DX10 can bring to the table. I've never been one for survival horror type games (can you believe I only managed about 10 minutes of the first resident evil and haven't played one since) however I am looking forward to trying Alan Wake, that game looks a little bit special.

"I guess, but I can't afford a new video card right now"
However, I doubt I'll be getting another video card for another couple years at least.

not really an option for me. i will wait till vista has a lot more support driver & prog wise & there r dx10 titles that i would actually play.
since i have a 7950gx2 the graphics card comes into it to(as i really cant justify another upgrade until next yr).
am hoping there is a LOT more support for 64bit vista than there was for 64xp, would really like to go that path when i do eventually move to vista.

Oh I got the "CARD" but,,,,I wont be upgrading to Vista for at least a year
not until all the bugs are out and more importantly not until Nvidia gets their drivers "fixed" for the 8800.

You have the same card as me, can you explain fixed? I honestly think people are getting sucked in by the negativity. Using the latest set of drivers im currently playing X3-Reunion, Battle for middle-earth2, Prey (needs latest patch but works with it), Doom3, Neverwinter nights2, UT2004.
Ive also seen reputable sites posting benchmarks for WOW:Burning crusade that show Vista actually exceeding XP by upto 5fps.
All i'll say is get the OEM vista and give it a try. Yes it takes a little getting used to and no it's not XP (at the moment) but give it a chance.

we'll all eventually have to migrate to Vista. That is unless there are some XP specific programs that never get updated and will not work w/Vista even 10yrs. later.....kinda like why people still use win98se .
imna upgrade my rig later this year, but i'm not going go to vista probably for a little while later. That is unless i come across a good deal on the new OS

Good deals are available my friend, pick your components, build your system and go buy an OEM copy. It set me back £70 or so for home premium and i'll probably get 7 years out of it. £10 a year I think I can stretch to that. Add another card for SLi in a years time and i'll be quite happy for 2 to 3 years.

That was me. I totally hung on to Windows 98 SE - I loved the "Exit to DOS" option. Plus, all my games ran fine - even the old DOS ones - didn't need DOSBOX, but do in XP.

Somehow I doubt 35% of the people that voted actually have a Geforce 8800.

I'm not excited about DX10 at all.
I'm staying with XP until there is no other way. Maybe in one or two years when the first Vista SP and some DX10 games will be released. Then MAYBE I will install Vista. vLite tuned installation of course

none of the options seem to work for me, I'm not really excited, but I don't have a console and I will be getting a whole new rig soon... Maybe I should be?

Yeah, I'm just not all that excited about DX10 at this point, like others have said DX9 is just fine for me add to that the fact that I just don't have the cash to drop down on a DX10 card right now and I am perfectly happy with XP and DX9

What does DX 10 really offer besides a unified shader architecture? Any new effects? Other types of acceleration?
