Does anyone else here use Studio Monitors for their Office or am i alone?

Hey all,

I noticed over the years people talk about PC sound, but most of you have really crappy setups, meaning, logictech speakers etc...

I wouldn't call some of the logitech speaker system crappy. Sure there are the low end budget models. but for example the 5300e's are pretty decent speakers even for a casual gamer or music enthusaist.

Course i can understand how they'd be considered "crappy" in comparison to some higher end ultimately superior real speaker systems. Seperate amp and cabinent/shelf/monitor speakers.

@ work i stick with the 5300e's because there simply isn't any reason or a place for some good high end stuff. However at home, running on some pretty damn fine amount of wattage and full sized cabinent speakers (both a set of a OLD excellent quality fisher speakers and a set of old custom built speakers combined for a stereo sound that would impress the most picky of music/sound enthusaists)

is that a KRK speaker on the lower right? I'd love a pair of V8's, but there's no way i could afford them right now

i use a pair of Alesis M1 Active 620s

Man, right now I don't even have studio monitors in my STUDIO... quit braggin! hehe

Actually, i am currently using the Logitech Z-560 4.1 speaker set in my office, and it really does sound good, especially for the price.

i currently run klipsch synergy sb-1's off a crown k1 amp (350 watts/ch rms @8ohms)
sub is a jl-13w7 custom built sub with dual 18" passive radiators (-3 db at 14 hz)
powered by a crown k2 amp (1250 watts/ch rms @2ohms)
crossover is a dbx driverack pa

EDIT: pics... (have moved speakers a bit but basically the same), also use half raquet balls under light ontop of sub instead of foam: k2 is on the left, K1 and dbx are on right side, all audio is balanced from soundcard using a phase plugin

I use 5x audio pro C1 monitors and 1x audio pro Cinema Sub. And for the a/v I use Yamaha RX-V450. Works wonders. For gaming I use multichannel input and for movies spdif. I don't care much for 6.1 or 7.1 because most of the movies doesn't even support it. It would be rather easy to buy one C1 monitor more to make it 6.1 tho. I don't use equ at all anywhere(pc/av) and I use only stereo modes for music of course.

measures 22.5" cubed, 8 awg wire run to the sub... the damping factor including wire resistance in the calculation is 166... (1.5 ohm voicecoils)
the damping factor on the klipsch speakers is 379 (also running 8 awg wire) 8 ohm impedance

the sub is not for what is audible but what is tactile the -3 db mark is calculated to be 14.5 hz you may not hear it but you sure can feel it and it definately does make a difference. yes, i admit the air conditioning wire is a bit crazy however I got 50' for the price of 8' so I figured I may as well use it for the midrange too I have become friends with the guy in the wire department at my local home supply store...

EDIT: I do crossover at 90 hz tho so it does play audible too
