Anderson is excellent, and in the SG1 series, the replacement actor (which had orginal stared in farscape, another excellent series since discontinued) plays RIGHT into that role with his own touch mind you, perfectly. Same quick witted remarks and excellent humor overall.

It's just so shitty that the sci-fi channel bought the rights to the show, only to cancel the series on us for absalutely NO frigen reason at all (considering that it was still more view then even atlantis and atlantis is huge).

I mean, my gaud, this is the first series lineup that has a larger per episode budget bigger then majority of the movies made today.

Anyways, Love the series, love both series, hate sci-fi channel.

It's also excellent that it's all filmed and produced right in canada in the western portions to top it off....

I think Stargate rocks. Got seasons 1-8 on DVD already.

I cannot BELIEVE they cancelled it! Stupid channel.

New cast is starting to gel with the old, though I guess it can be argued that they should have gone out one or two seasons ago.

Maybe like the X-Files, which I think ran too long without a purpose.

If they had wrapped it up where they pretty much wiped out the Replicators and the Gould (sp?) and found enough ZPM's to run the earth defense base thing in the arctic so they would be protected in the future, that may have been a very good place to end it.

I would like to see them help to work out the Asgard situation so they can thrive too. Maybe a few episodes wrapping that up all nicely with a good alliance and all would be a good arc.

Yeah I love the Azgaurd. I am loving it. I'm now half way through season 8. I just love each time he says Carter's hurting his brain with all the science stuff.. lol. I am only through with the 1st episode of Atlantis. I decided not to watch it until I'm done with SG1. I hate the sci-fi channel.. Well I guess I hate them all except for BSG. I'm curious what the two new films will be. If they will be mad for tv, or in the theaters. I really think Mike Shanks did a great job, he had some pretty big shoes to fill after Jim Spader did the feature film.

I don't really like Atlantis much. Makes the ancients look like morons.

But, when Stargate got rid of the doctor and General Hammond, that kinda just freaked me out.

Then they have a new doctor who is never on the show any more. Lame.

But that lady that joined the show and was from Farscape? She's the best part of the show for me at this point. She can be freakin' hilarious.

weird?

it was just starting to get better..

the last episode i watched was about halfway through season 10, and my gaud, it just keeps getting bigger and better.

The only cast that's changed, and it isn't actually changed, it's just they've been promoted and do make frequent showings on the show itself, is the orginal sg1 leader richard is now a general working at the pentigon, the general that was in command of the base is now working with the president, the doctor died, was replaced by serveral people so far, such as the student at the university of "mysteries ways" (correct show?), then later by the daughter of the current general (which had orginal starred in adromeda AS adromeda herself, and again since then (seems to be randomly changing constantly).

Aside from that, the orginal cast and crew are all there. T'lk (spelling?) samantha, daniel, the main people still there.

Explain to me the benefit to Atlantis in killing off a recently killed off character, if you would please.

dudeboyz,

remember, that's just an episode out of several to come.

what did you think when you saw Daniel die? How bought when he was banished after attempting to do something to anubas?

My guad, i don't know how many times some of the main characters in these shows have come close to dieing or have died (at the end of an episode) but we still end up seeing them in full working order a season down the road.

Who knows, the actor may have requested to no longer take part in the show, and no one likes an actor to be suddenly replaced and to continue playing the same character, they just mold the story around it the best they can, and if the actor comes back, they'll throw something together for it as well.

It was the Powers That Be, not the actor, who decided that he should leave the show.

I don't get how it might make the show better in ANY way what so ever.

Shanks left of his own volition - over money and screen time. Different deal alltogether.

It's like when they got rid of Hammond - made no sense to me.

well, it really doesn't matter, they probably got something boiling in the kitchen..

however it's intesting to note that it appears that he's in someone mind at all times in the show..

we'll just have to watch and see..

Guess I don't have the patience you do. I'm not the biggest Atlantis fan anyway, and without that character, the show got much less watchable to me.

I Love SG1 and just read that there is going to be a movie or two soon as a follow up to the series. I'll look it up and edit the link in this post.

I still don't see how they will have time to wrap things up. Another 2 seasons would be just enough time.

I hate that they cancelled it in favor of Atlantis. It just doesn't make sense unless it was purely economical. But I'm disappointed regardless.

I'm just as peeved about SG1 being canceled, but the resulting movies could lead to a epic sega of movies based apon the stargate SG1 crew (as long as they continue to USE the SG1 cast)

the moment they start subbing in other actors, the movie is doomed.

I don't know, I have watched both shows from the beginning and have enjoyed them both for the technology and for the comedy but lately, more accuratly since BSG started, the stargate formula has not won me over has it had in the past. Smart comedy can be great and Stargate stills make me laugh from time to time but the show has become fairly predictable and has managed to write itself to the point where it's getting harder to out do itself. I dont envy the writers of the show having to come up with an ending for the show considering all the extrordinary solutions they have come up with in the past. The show is a classic but perhaps it's time for a break.

i don't really look into it that deeply ... to me i regard Stargate SG1/Atlantis/BSG/Babylon 5 as good entertainment some people take some shows to seriously as if it is fact

To shed some light on a possable reason why SG1 is cancelled *MGM did say they are seeking other possable outlets aside from Sci-FI, so a possable 11th season is possable. They even have a possable spot for it on the official site*

THERE'S GOING TO BE A THIRD SERIES! Rumors are that Anderson may lead it up as exec producer, as well as a possability for Chris Judge, and Mike Shanks to return, as they both said they are more then interested and willing to either do another season of SG1, or a third series!

http://www.gateworld.net/news/2006/1...ei_serie.shtml

Not to mention the MMO is coming along VERY nicely, they have MGM's full backing, and also they plan to publish the game them selves, so no sucky soe, etc. MGM refuses to let the Stargate genre end. Also I read in this months issue of the magazine, that MGM is definatly seeking another outlet if the means are there. So Stargate is FARE from over! Not to mention the 2 direct to DVD movies!

NP Right now I'm dissabled, so DVD's etc is about my only life at the moment. I'm all caught up with SG1 now. Starting on Atlantis as we speak. This franchise is starting to become my favorite.. Even over Star Trek!
