How to Disable WinDvd ?

Could someone tell me please how to disable WinDvd? Everytime I left click on a video file I have created the WinDvd player starts. I want the current Windows Media Player 11.0 to be my primary player when left clicking. I always have to right click on the video file and choose [Open with Windows Media Player]

I have an older version of WinDvd 5.0 OEM on my pc and there website has absolutely NO support on how to disable it, turn it off, or even uninstall the software from your pc.

Can`t find any info googling on how to disable this useless player either !

Thanks for any replys.

Right click the video file and choose "open with" then "choose program" highlight WMP and tick the check box "always use this program.." I'm not sure if that is the correct frases for it because I use the Swedish version of XP but it should be something like that.
Btw, can't you uninstall WinDvd from the add/remove in the control panel..?

I have already tried all the suggestions you have made. I have all the various types of video files checked in the WMP player.

The type of file I am wanting to simply left click on and begin playing in WMP is a mpeg 1
video file. If I left click on a windows media type file it will play just fine without having to right-click and choose to open with.

When you uninstall the WinDvd program it will take your codecs away with the uninstall and screw your pc up most of the time and your forced to re-install it again.

If you haven`t ever dealt with WinDvd take my word for it and do not ever install it !

Thanks for the replys!
