i'm really gung ho for the better collision detection, more realistic everything, less floating or oddly moving or sitting objects in games

question has arised......
now that Vista and dx10 are soon upon us, what will happen to people who refuse to go to Vista and still want to play games that require dx10 to run their best? will those games still play on winXP and dx9c?

well as far as i understand, it'll be very rare to see any games launch @ vista or even well after vista is launched that require dx10 or dx10.1
and most likely, all games that end up supporting dx10.x natively will have dx9.0c backward capabilities because so many will still be on xp

hey, thier the only company with a DX10 out and available, it may not have fully native DX10 support for the consumers in vista yet, BUT it's capable, and i betcha the moment vista launches, nvidia will spit out a driver and possibly this demo.
the more of an edge nvidia gets, the more ATI has to pull something outa thier hat that'll wow the crowed more yet.

Personally i'd just like a decent 8800 driver for XP, never mind a vista driver or some tech demo!

Im really intrigued by these comments on a decent 8800 driver. What exactly are the problems people are having? Im using the 97.44 and RivaTuner without issue but then again it might be something i've missed. If this is a bad driver then I cant wait to see what a good driver can do i've already topped 9500 on 3dmark 06 and havent been on my 360 for over a week due to rediscovering the PC as a gaming platform.

There have been many issues with the GTX card people have been complaining about. One of them being that people with rather high end machines are getting low FPS in games, when their previous card, usually the 7950GX2 for those continuing with the NVIDIA line of cards, would get higher frame rates on that card than their GTX. Also, some people when running two of these cards in SLI get LOWER scores on 3Dmark06 and LOWER FPS when running SLI. But take one card out, and they both work fine individually in either slot.
i'm sure that there are other problems out there, but those are the ones that i see most w/the GTX card.
