GeForce FX5000, not working right

Ok guys here goes...
I had a ATI x200 I believe it was in my system, and I thought I upgraded to the GeForce FX5000 PCI 256MB card, but it seems that no matter what Nvidia Driver I use it is still going slow on my system. If I watch a video it is like it's a frame by frame, and when I open a new window at the bottom the bar comes out really slowly. I went on PCPitstop and did a system Test and it came up with a red flag saying my GeForce FX5000 video card was using only 10% of it's capability. I have used the newest driver from the Nvidia site (93.71), as well as talking to two tech's...one recommended 66.93, another 81.94.

I don't know what's going on, I just bought this E-machines computer. From what I can recall at work here my system has P4 processor 3.06GHz, 120GB HD, 1G of RAM using Windows XP (newest version with all critical upgrades), as well as I have the DirectX 9.1 I believe it is from when I downloded from the NVidia disk. From what I remember I met all the system requirements before I bought it.

If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it-I'm going crazy!!

did you scan your computer for any virus or spyware?
try online scan like panda or pc cillin

Yes I have Norton Systemworks with anti virus, as well as Ad-Aware and AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 (the old Ewido), and spyware balster.
I've cleaned everything out, and defragmented.

It only has happened since the card went in.

Did you make sure that you cleaned out your old ATi driver before installing your new card?
Make sure you have uninstalled all of your ATi video drivers and then use DriverCleaner (from www.drivercleaner.net), and then clean out ATi drivers for good using that under safe mode.

I did do that too!

The support at Nvidia today said I have to update my Chipset and BIOS from e-machines, so emachines gave me the link for my Intel motherboard, with the chipset link that has the old ATI on it. They can't help me with my chipset for the NVidia.

Now what?!

Hmmm.. I don't know what tell to tell you, bud. Maybe someone else would have more insight on this.
But, just as a thought, is an FX5000 (or did you mean FX5200?) really an upgrade from an X200? Though an X200 isn't that good, neither is the FX5200, and the X200 is also one generation newer than the FX5200.

Erm, even my Radeon 7000 can do that kind of thing fine - I think he has some kind of driver problem, or something that is using all his CPU.

Oh and also, if the x200 was integrated, with the fx5200 he will notice a performance improvement, simply because the x200 is not using system RAM.

I'm not sure if it really matters, but it's the FX5500 and I upgraded RAM to 1G

I also bought a nVidia geforce fx5500 card. I had an integrated ATI 9100 video driver. I am having similar issues with the new card performance. Keep posting what you find as it will be interesting to see what may fix the problem.

Can you play games at all? Because, with that kind of problem (video frame by frame, visual effects in Windows stuttery), it sounds like the drivers arent properly installed. That is the kind of thing I get when I go into safe mode - using default vga drivers.

The problem is, I don't really know how to fix it, lol. I know this is recommended far too often, but you could reinstall Windows from a clean install, then try

Ok something I thought of...my old card was integrated into my motherboard...is this an issue? Did I miss changing something. I'm wondering if I have to like disable auto detecting something???

You have to disable the onboard GPU in BIOS.

ok I know how to get into the BIOS, but where in there is it? Will it be an easy to do fix??

Depends on the mobo and the bios that you have but its in there somewere along with the onboard lan etc..
It should be called onboard graphic or onboard gpu.
Havent had a mobo with an onboard gpu in ages so i cant tell you where its at.
You can also go to device manager and find the onboard gpu and set it to "dont use this device (disabled)" havent tried this with a onboard gpu but i gues it will have the same result.

I went under hardware and there was something called ATISMBUS and because it\s ATI (Old Graphics card), should I try to disable that?

I think you better find the onboard gpu in BIOS and disable it and use DriverCleaner to remove all ATI drivers.
