What are the best drivers and settings for a n7600GS?
I have just installed a nVidia GeForce 7600GS, and installed the ASUS 91.47_w2kxp drivers. Half-Life episode One does not show too good. It is sort of have a fogginess to it. My old FX5200 displayed the game better. This I believe is not right. It is either the drivers or I cannot set the card right to display the game better. With antialiasing and anisotropic filtering off, there is this fogginess. With antialiasing at 2x and anisotropic filtering at 4x there is the same effect. Please help.
I am trying out the 93.71_forceware-winxp2k drivers now, with the same effects mentioned above, I am afraid. The 97.44_forceware drivers won't install if I uninstall the other drivers, there is an error message that they cannot find compatible drivers on my system. Is it possible to install over the currently installed drivers?
I have a 17inch CRT Phillips monitor, 1 Gig of RAM, a P4 CPU 3Ghz, an N7600GS graphics card 256MB. I cannot use the nVidia Control Panel either.(would like to get rid of it, if there is a better tool out there and it's easier to use for a noobie) Thanks.

Try the DHzer0point 92.91 drivers and see if that helps.
And also, what exactly do you mean by a foginess? I've never actually played HL2: Episode 1, but are you sure it's not supposed to be like that? Maybe your old FX5200 was just not showing the game the way it was meant to be.

I do not know how to explain this. As I am on this web page now, the colors are crisp and clear, but when I open the game, there is this thing like someone has sprinkled dust particles over the picture or mist. The surface of the water is not clear or crisp and the sky also. Sorry I do not know how to explain it. Will try out the 92.91 drivers you suggested. Thanks.

The DHzer0point 92.91 drivers seem to working fine for now. I will keep them for bit. The foginess, well I guess it is how the game should look like. I think I will fiddle with the settings until I get a better picture. Far Cry displays very well, it is Half - Life: Episode One that is not quite right. Have tried the 91.47s but they did not help with my problem. It is the 92.91 that seem to give me a better picture for now. Thanks guys for your suggestions.

Reason: Imageshack code not linking properly.

you'd have to use an image hosting site like imageshack or photobucket, etc.
they should give you HTML code or something to post here.

aint it supposed to be that way? your card has more processing power than the old one, so its able to display more eye candy stuff like fogging and particles?
