Neewbies that post to old messages.
I know I've not been on these boards for too long, and I'm not the uber technical savy guy that many of you are. Hell I program in cobol for a living (it will never die!!!) so maybe I don't have a ton of room to bitch here but I have found something that just bugs me.
Neebies that post to a ton of old arse threads on their first day.

Meh, we all did it. What sucks is when vets get in there and reply something other than, "please open a thread, etc."

Now Im just the opposite - it really irks me when others complain about 'resurecting' old threads...
It comes across like:
'beat it noob - we talked about that last week'
AND if they didnt resurect an old thread - they start a new one on same subject - and that gets flames as well.
So basically - a noob is NOT allowed to discuss 'old' topics - hmmm, pitty.

end edit:
My position is...
the *old threads* are there arent they?... so wtf is wrong with anyone participating - even if its a year later. The mods dont delete 'old threads' do they? - if they are there, we are free to post. period. Live with it.
If you HAVE to have ONLY NEW subjects to discuss - get IM/IRC - no one can resurect old threads in there.. Discussions based on topic and NOT TIME FRAME (*like IM/IRC) - IS THE WHOLE purpose of a forum...
So basically - I equate these remarks as over zealous, elitist and 'clicky' - not to mention the loss of my respect (not that it matters) as the DATES are clearly marked - (lazy? we all CAN read its orignal post date - right? - not to mention - you dont HAVE to look at ANY thread you dont want to.)
So...
'welcome noob - post away on as old of threads as you see fit - pay no attention to the forum nazi's '

I have no problem with people resurrecting new topics if they have something worthwhile to contribute. But posts that amount to "me too" or posts on issues that are no longer even relevant due to them being on current events that are no longer current does annoy me.

Welcome FWZ noob...
I dunno... the whole point of listing topics is so you can choose the ones you have an interest in. And you can see the original post date right there too.
If its an old subject - simply - dont click on that topic. Pretty simple IMO
eh...

i want the VERY first thread on DRIVERHEAVEN to be located and opened back up and lets all post in it for (even though i wasn't around then) nostalgia.
i don't think that someone should be ridiculed for posting in an ancient thread. but as others have said...at least bring something to the table. something relavent.

This thread could be the exact opposite. Like a kind of self opening, self-resurrecting thread. Wow man...Far out.......
