Trying to Install MMC 9.15 -- No ATI Card Installed

At least that's what the MMC installation determines.

What I DO have installed is the X1950 Pro PCIe card from PowerColor. I'm also using the latest CAT 6.12 with .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.0 installed AND CCC.

I mainly wanted to get the DVD Decoder installed and that does seem to have installed OK. But, MMC refuses to install under the current setup.

MMC is only for AIW cards and TV cards, is that an AIW?

This is a VIVO card, yes. I think the problem is that it's such a new card and not a B/B ATI card.

At any rate, I was able to install MMC just fine on my X800 XL card.

Vivo drivers are not MMC, this is what you want, http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/x...xavivo-xp.html also WMD drivers.

MMC is for cards with TV tuners,

Well, just to clear things up: I've used ATI cards for over ten years. This has included a few AIW cards. It's also included a Radeon 64 MB VIVO, a RADEON 9600 PRO AGP, the X800 XL AGP VIVO, and now the X1950 Pro PCIe.

I have been able to install MMC on EVERY SINGLE ATI card in the past INCLUDING VIVO cards.

This is the VERY FIRST TIME that MMC has refused to recognize an ATI card. I'm not making this up.

What part of MMC? My understanding is it is only for the tuners TV/FM. What extra apps or benefits appear after installing it on non AIW cards? You have me curious because it never occurred to me to even try it on anything other than an AIW card.

I know you have alot of experience and I respect that! This is just something I never thought to try or thought would even be of any use, so my apologies if I insulted you, totally not my intention.

Thank you for a very kind response. Your first reply did come across a little harsh. All is well now.

In all of my previous installations of MMC [MANY differenct versions] whenever there was no TV Tuner on the card, rather than get a TV IN option, I would see a VIDEO IN. Therefore, I could use the Video In to capture videos using something like my VCR or another external tuner.

I think the current problem I'm having is that this is the first ATI card I've ever owned that was not "Built By" ATI and I'm thinking the problem is due to the card not being included in the INF file.

All I know presently is that the MMC installation halts with the error stating that no supported card is installed.

You can install mmc on a vivo card and use the tv app, no tuner functions of course, for viewing external sources through the composite or s-video. I was using vivo to output to a tv as secondary dispay, and console gaming on the s-video in using the tv app, because there is no lag using vivo inputs.

Why it's not working i don't know, but i have used mmc for many years with my HIS X800 so built by ati shouldn't matter...

Appreciate the insight, where or how did you come across this little gem? I would never have thought to even try this.

At least in the past, all cards that are AIW and/or VIVO were listed in the supported video cards list for MMC. Since I've always been able to use MMC with my ATI cards, I simply assumed it will work with my new X1950 Pro.

I'm hoping an update will fix it. However, I'm not holding my breath as I understand that AIW cards are to be discontinued. That makes me curious as to whether MMC is going to bite the dust as well.

You might want to give MMC 9.16 a try. 9.15 may not have support for a card that new.

9.16 didn't change much to be honest... I'd be surprised if it even installs right.
