ATI Mobility™ Radeon® X1400 driver update conflit!! please help :(

hi there...

I've recently bought a laptop.. Toshiba Satellite A100-215..

it came with the graphic board ATI Mobility™ Radeon® X1400 (not the best but for the price ok)

i've allready intalled the doom3 game, and everything seems to work fine..

but, sadly, the resolution on windows environment (e.g. using photoshop) sucks

I can see clearly the color gradients .. who give a laim layout for me to work

as i tried to download the recent driver from ATI site (http://ati.de/support/drivers/xp/mobility-xp.html) it first requires for me to install some kind of verification software:Installation Verification Software 660KB 6.12 Dec. 13, 2006 Validation utility to determine if Catalyst Mobility™ is compatible with your system and download the driver.
ok.. i do it... but then it says to me that I can not continue and that it is best for me to talk with manufacturer of my laptop

well.. i've done another search and found this site:
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/...20mobility.htm

then.. i've done the download of the[COLOR=Black] --- Pack Catalyst 6.11 (8.311) ---

cool!! it was really better!! it corrected the issue about the color gradients!

but then again, nothing can be perfect

now, when I try to run Doom3 it gives that fatal blue screen error from WinXP and reboots the computer (?!?!?)

does it over and over again!! WTF!!

ok. I've recovered the original definitions of the Laptop by formatting and instaling again the WindonsXp..

now.. the game works but the colors still look lousy!!

what am I supposed to do???

i'm kind of lost.. can someone help me??

thankx a lot
hugx

p.s. - sorry for my english.. i've tried the best I could...

i've got the same problem as you, official catalyst drivers wont install on my laptop as it says my graphics card is not compatible with the drivers, and asks me to refer to my system manufacturer.

i'm currently using OmegaDrivers Catalyst 6.9, and it works pretty well, but Omega seems to be inactive pretty lately. Official Catalyst 6.12 is already out, and i'm still using drivers 3 gens ago.

My system is a Inspiron 6400 with Centrino Duo T2300, 1.5GB 533Mhz RAM, X1400 256MB HyperMemory. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

however the drivers you suggest are

Based on the Catalyst 6.9 Official drivers
.. and the ones wich are more recent are the version 6.12

i'll install them for now and see what happens

OK OK OK. I found this site by search and I must ask. I have the SAME problem. Same driver, ATI Mobility Radeon X1400, installed the updates, got blue screen of death, and no one has made any further suggestions. Almost nothing media related works, and if it does, it freezes and crashes y computer.
WHERE did you find this "ultimate fix" download, becuase I desperately need it!!! THANK YOU! pennsha@auburn.edu -Shay
